Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 July 2026

Welcome to WatchLight. By using the app, you agree to these terms. They’re written in plain English on purpose — the goal is that you can actually read and understand them.

The short version: WatchLight is a free tool that tells you where a movie or show might be available. The data comes from a third party and can be out of date, so always confirm on the service itself. The app is provided as-is.

1. The service

WatchLight helps you search a movie or TV show and see where it’s available to stream with a subscription, watch free, rent, or buy — with links that open each service. The app is free, contains no advertising, and has no in-app purchases. It is an information tool: we do not host, stream, sell, or provide the movies and shows themselves.

2. No account

WatchLight requires no sign-up and no account. It’s suitable for all ages. There’s nothing to log in to and nothing for you to manage.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, automate, or send excessive automated requests to the app or its data provider.
  • Attempt to extract, resell, or redistribute the availability data, or use it to build a competing database or API.
  • Probe, scan, or try to bypass our security controls or usage limits. Good-faith security research is welcome — email us first.
  • Reverse-engineer, modify, or redistribute the app’s code except as permitted by applicable law (e.g. personal study, fair use).
  • Use the app for any commercial purpose without our written permission.

4. Accuracy of information

Availability, prices, quality labels, and links are provided by the Streaming Availability API by Movie of the Night and the streaming services themselves. This data is refreshed regularly but can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Prices are indicative and may differ at checkout. Always confirm on the service itself before subscribing, renting, or buying.

5. Third-party services and links

“Watch”, “Rent”, and “Buy” links take you to third-party services (such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple TV) that are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability, pricing, or any transaction you make with them.

6. Intellectual property

The app, its code, the WatchLight name, and the lighthouse mark are owned by Marg Tech LLC. Movie and TV titles, artwork, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners, and the availability data is provided by Movie of the Night under their terms. You may not copy or redistribute any of it except as permitted by applicable law.

7. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep it working and accurate, but we cannot promise that:

  • It will always be available, error-free, or bug-free.
  • The availability information will always be correct or current.
  • Links will always open the right title or work as expected.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of the app — including decisions made based on the information shown (for example, subscribing to a service that turns out not to have the title).

Since the app is free and we never charge you anything, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us — which is zero.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or restrict access if you violate these terms, particularly the acceptable-use rules in section 3.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date above will reflect any change. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. If you are a consumer whose local laws grant rights that cannot be excluded by contract, those rights still apply.
